UK PREMIERE

SUPERDESIGN, Italian Radical Design 1965-1975

Archfilmfest programme at LFA 2018

The UK premiere of SUPERDESIGN, Italian Radical Design 1965-1975, was presented by its director Francesca Molteni in an evening screening produced by Archfilmfest London in partnership with LFA.

SUPERDESIGN, ITALIAN RADICAL DESIGN 1965-1975

A film by Maria Cristina Didero and Francesca Molteni

SUPERDESIGN focuses on nineteen architects, designers, and curators who played central roles in the Italian Radical Movement. Through their stories, the director retraces the movement’s history and heritage of the movement and takes us back to a time when everything seemed possible.

As we look at the works of this movement’s key players, walking with them through their cities’ alleys and listening to their revolutionary ideals, we find that the utopic dreams, ideologies, and passion that permeated their experiences and their art are still alive today.

The film features interviews with designers and creatives such as Emilio Ambasz, Andrea Branzi, Alessandro Mendini, Gaetano Pesce and many others.

After the screening, Manuel Toledo hosted a conversation around the film with director Francesca Molteni, followed by a Q&A with the public. Drinks were available at The Silver Building bar after the film.
